Avoiding Housework and Free Pattern!

It's been far too long since I shared a free pattern with you - so just because I love you, here you go.  A free Valentine's coaster, from my heart to yours.

Available in the shop -

(A word about Craftsy - if you're looking for a new pattern from any designer, instead of scrolling through page after page, just click the little dropdown menu on the far right side.  It will usually say "recommended", if you click on it you can switch to "newest".)

I don't normally celebrate Valentine's Day, but I have a mother who looks for any excuse to celebrate anything.  She will love these!  And I'm taking a few over to our friend's house tomorrow when we visit.  They make up really fast!!

These all came about because I was avoiding housework.  Yesterday, I got my quilt top almost put together -

and then ran out of white fabric for the outer border.  Horrors!!!  I wasn't dressed for leaving the house, so for a short, dark period it looked as though my vacuum and I would bond again.  Fortunately, I had a little brainstorm.  I have tons of left-over strips from the quilt, and wanted to use them, so came up with the coaster idea.  Of course, I'll have to make 500 coasters to use them all up....but I may make a few mini-quilts with the blocks too.

Tomorrow I'll be running mum around on errands, so I'll pick up some more fabric while I'm at it.  The floors still need vacuuming, but they can wait, there's stitching to be done!

See ya soon!
Love,
Allie

A girl has to have a workable philosophy and if it means some things have to wait, like vacuuming, then sacrifices must be made! (If not used you know how fabric multiplies! There are even practical reasons for this philosophy.)
Thank you for the sweet pattern!
Your quilt is just magnificent - not only the colors, but the sentiments.

Very cute coaster. I had a friend who decorated for every occasion and holiday. Her house would transform almost every month.

Quite right. Stitching is far more important than vacuuming! xx

Thanks for the coaster pattern! I, too, excel at avoiding housework. If it doesn't stink and isn't sticky, it can wait!!

Hi Allie,

Heeee :) My vacuum gets used when I need to lay blocks out on the floor, or a washed quilt out to dry. Definitely relating to your avoidance with new piecing tasks. Garden of Contentment is so very pretty.

Lovely little pattern - thank you. I do enjoy both, housework and stitching - but you are right - only one at a time.

There are very few times when housework can't wait ... and when I do get cracking on it, generally, the words "a lick and a promise" may describe my results ;) If housework was done and STAYED done it wouldn't be so bad - but it's undoing itself in one area as we're doing it in another - it's never ever finished!

Is there a way to print the blog instructions for the Garden of Contentment? The patterns on Craftsy did print but I can't print the instructions.
